NPT Leader Responsibilities

Dear Leaders, NPT’s success is based on enthusiasm and enjoyment of silent sports activities, the very good speaker events, and other ways we come together.

The following is a guide for you, the members who become designated leaders. You give life to Northern Paddle and Trail. To each of you, we are very grateful!

Before

Proof Read  your event’s details. Look at:

Correct any error you see! Please …

  • Contact Webmaster (CJ, 499-1027 c / 362-3731 h

  •  (if time is of the essence) Personally broadcast a correction with NPTMessages@yahoogroups.com

A week or so prior to event, publicize to NPT members To: NPTMessages@yahoogroups.com

Tell your participants about the event you are leading

  • What the event is, such as; paddle, hike, bike, ski, work, speaker, etc ~

  • Date/Time ~

  • Location ~

  • Where to meet (if different than Location) ~

  • Level of difficulty ~

  • Estimate of how long the event will last ~

  • What to bring ~

  • Your contact phone number ~

  • Description of the event ~

On Location

Give a brief description of what to expect on the trip

Gather waiver (release of liability) signatures from non-members there.

Click on www.northernpaddletrail.org/Membership.html then print the Adult (and Minor) Liability Waiver (.pdf) form

Be aware of individual capabilities.

Have a Lead person and a Sweep person.
Plan for buddy-up (pairs) as well.

Be aware of group dynamics that enhance the outing or might compromise the safety and enjoyment of an outing.

Consider taking some pictures for the newsletter.

Ask each participant to sign with name address and phone number. Send list to NPT, 717 Thayer, Rhldr, WI 54501

After 

Consider writing a summary of the event to be printed in the newsletter.

Submit pictures for the newsletter or website.
